For decades, snowdrops have been linked to the treatment of Alzheimer’s and dementia thanks to the drug, galantamine, synthesised from their bulbs. In 2023, Shaftesbury Snowdrops decided to elevate this relationship in our community’s awareness by fundraising on behalf of dementia charities. The number of people living with dementia is increasing because we are living longer. In the UK, on in eleven people over 65 have been diagnosed with dementia. That’s more than 944,000 people.
