Snowdrop Study Day 2025
We are delighted to welcome our Study Day speakers for 2025 from the island of Texel in the Netherlands. Texel has been a Galanthus hot spot since the 1950s when the bulbs were planted in the island’s pine forests. The lectures will be followed by the Best in the West Sale of rare and collectables

About the event
Nieteke Roeper cultivates a beautiful snowdrop-filled garden on Texel. She writes and lectures on the history of Galanthus on Texel and will tell our Study Day audience the story of the bulb and her island.
From the intrepid and visionary first growers of Texel who travelled to France to import snowdrops to the challenges of introducing a new crop and mastering cultivation techniques suited to Texel’s unique location.
Bram von Gronigen is the third generation in his family to cultivate Galanthus. His grandfather was one of the small scale growers cultivating snowdrops under trees and his father Piet started growing Galanthus nivalis in fields in the 1980s, expanding to add G. nivalis ‘Flore Pleno’ in 1992.
Today they grow around 20 varieties in the fields and more rare and special varieties under trees near the nursery.
